Songfacts®:

  • "Stronger Than Dirt" explores a gay relationship from a first-person perspective. Lead singer James Allan explained to the Sunday Mail: "This song is very emotional for me. It's about when the power shifts to one person in a couple and they convince the other that feeling and showing affection are no bad thing. When the guy says to the other 'Can we stay together?', I feel very emotional about the line. Sometimes it's the most simple word or phrase that means the most for me."
  • The phrase Stronger Than Dirt originated in an old TV commercial for Ajax cleaner. The Doors popularized it in their song "Touch Me," where Jim Morrison inexplicably sings it at the end of the song.
