Songfacts®:

  • Heroes and Zeroes was Glen Burtnik's second solo album, and his last before replacing Tommy Shaw in Styx. A New Jersey rocker, he shared the club stage with Bruce Springsteen and was offered a spot in Bon Jovi, which he turned down to pursue his solo career. "Follow You" was the closest he came to a hit - he sang it on the show Solid Gold, but it never cracked the Top-40. Most of Glen's commercial success came as a songwriter, as he composed tracks for John Waite, Patty Smyth, Randy Travis, Lita Ford and many others.
  • In our interview with Glen Burtnik, he said of this song: "I sat down with a guy named Jack Ponti and we wrote it together. I liked the idea of writing about both faith AND love, and being that I was married at the time to a Christian, I was aware of and exploring the idea of faith. It got cut by a couple of Christian rockers, which is flattering, but a lot of people assumed it meant I'm a Christian, which I'm not. Not that it's a bad thing..."
