Songfacts®:

  • Following his breakthrough success in 2016 with "I Hate U I Love U ," Gnash took time out from making new music in order to get his mind right. This tune about relationship regret was the first material the Los Angeles native came up with following his hiatus.

"I'd have ideas here and there, but this was the first song I'd made in a long time that really spoke to me," Gnash told Billboard. "I felt it honestly resembled the growth I'd been working towards and finally experiencing. I heard the idea on a day I was going through something heavy in my life and it helped me, so I knew I needed to be the person to give this song to the world."
  • The music video was directed by Gnash with DJ Brawner. It follows a similar theme to the song as we see the singer expressing his regrets to his girl at not working hard enough at their relationship.
