Songfacts®:

  • The opening track of Anthem of the Peaceful Army, "Age of Man" started off as a riff and arrangement that guitarist Jake Kiszka came up with during a Christmas 2017 break in Chattanooga.

The rest of the song was created by the band a little later in the week, in a cabin in the woods surrounded by hikes and nature, and acoustic instruments. "It was the perfect area; being in isolation. We started to identify with that song and what it could be," Jack Kiszka recalled to Mlive. "It's very epic in the way it opens and goes along. That's when the lyrics came in. Once it was recorded, we said 'This has to be the opening track of the album."
