• "One Foot in Front of the Other" is the title track of Griff's first record following her 2021 Brit Award for Rising Star. The singer produced most of the project, including this song. Its lyrical content about overcoming obstacles and regaining confidence ties in with Griff finding the self-belief to produce her own work. "I heard a stat that 2% of music producers are women, and so it feels important that as a young female in the music industry I should empower myself and continue to properly do it," Griff said, "It was challenging, but I hope in doing so 'One Foot In Front of The Other' feels like a raw, emotional and unpolished body of work."
• The song inspired the mixtape's artwork, a shot of Griff walking on a tightrope for the first time. "We ended up hiring some Cirque du Soleil setup and some guy who walks tightrope across buildings and s--t," she told NME. "But we wanted to capture that really raw emotion – whatever that is – of that process of getting back up and trying again. I think it was just a bonus that I managed to do it."
