Songfacts®:

  • Pushin P is a slang term that refers to being a loyal, stand-up playa who keeps it real. Here, Gunna, Future, and Young Thug take the phrase and add as many different P words as they can squeeze in.

Pointers in the Patek and my piece, I'm pushin' P

According to Gunna, "P don't just mean Playa, P also mean paper too. You could be pushing this P with paper too."
  • Gunna recorded the song for DS4Ever, the fourth and final installment of his Drip Season series. Atlanta producer Wheezy came up with the beat, one of seven he created for the record.
  • Wheezy sees the "Pushin P" title phrase as a lifestyle. "P is more than taking care of your people, P is player, P is a gentleman and being a boss. P is bossing up your b--ch," he explained to Billboard. "Instead of partner, player or pimp, we're saying 'P.'"
  • In hip-hop, P is traditionally seen as a very Powerful letter. Back in 1987, Boogie Down Productions proclaimed "The P Is Free," and since then rappers have espoused their love for the 16th letter of the alphabet. Future himself testified to the "Power of That P" on his 2011 mixtape Streetz Callin.
