• Hailey Whitters takes aim at a love triangle in "Everything She Ain't." The singer wastes no time cutting to the chase, warning a clueless suitor that his current object of affection may boast "a little style and a Hollywood smile," but she's far from the real deal when it comes to treating him right.
  
  With a healthy dose of sass, Whitters lays it all on the line. She knows exactly what this guy needs and, luckily for him, she's got the solution. In a triumphant declaration, she belts out, "I'm everything she is, and everything she ain't."
  
  "To me, this song is about being the most authentic version of yourself despite what may or may not be popular at the moment, Whitters told American Songwriter. "Whether or not you have a Hollywood smile, this song is about owning what you bring to the table and being confident in your skin."
• Whitters wrote "Everything She Ain't" on March 2, 2021, at Little Louder Music, where Ryan Tyndell (Eric Church's "Springsteen," Keith Urban's "We Were") is signed. Bryan Simpson (Tin McGraw's "Better Than I Used to Be," Joe Nichols' "Yeah") joined them.
  
  "Ryan had this cool bouncy guitar part and I shot out the line 'I'm everything she is, and everything she ain't,'" Whitters said. "He started spitting out verses and finished it within an hour or so. I love the girl-next-door nature of it and its quirky language."
• With an eye for country authenticity, Whitters' producer husband, Jake Gear, infused the track with rich instrumentation. Fiddler Eamon McLoughlin's soulful melodies added a layer of depth, while steel guitarist Russ Pahl's twangy riffs provided a touch of classic country charm. Bryan Sutton doubled on acoustic guitar and banjo, enhancing the song's acoustic allure.
  
  To elevate the production even further, Gear sought out additional elements. He enlisted the talents of Mike Rojas, who added an underlying organ sound that resonated deep within the track. The percussive elements weren't neglected either, as drummer Jerry Roe expertly sprinkled in rhythmic accents, injecting a vibrant energy.
  
  Gear called upon both Roe and Robbie Crowell, the drummer from Midland, to record the hand claps, infusing the song with a sense of groove. And just for that extra touch of sonic texture, Crowell dropped in the unexpected sounds of a guiro - a fish-shaped percussive instrument - creating an element of surprise at random moments throughout the song.
  
  "It's hilarious that he's credited on the song, because it literally took us about 30 seconds to record it," Gear told Billboard of Crowell's contribution. "I probably could have played it, but I wanted a real drummer with pocket and timing to be able to do it. So we had him play."
• Whitters released "Everything She Ain't" on January 14, 2022, via Songs & Daughters/Pigasus/Big Loud Records as the lead single from her third album, Raised. "Everything She Ain't" was a late addition. "This song was one of the absolute last songs we cut," she said. "To be completely honest, in my mind, my record was done."
• Whitters' old high school, "Cow Pie High" in Shueyville, Iowa, inspired the Harper Smith-directed video. "The city kids called it that because it was the school that all the country farm kids went to," she explained. "I actually was the homecoming queen my senior year so Harper and I thought it would be fun to muse on that for this video."
• Whitters performed the song at the 58th ACM Awards on May 11, 2023, where she also took home the trophy for New Female Artist of the Year.
• "Everything" became Whitters' first solo song as a billed artist to chart on the Hot 100 when it debuted on the tally dated May 27, 2023, at #94.
