Songfacts®:

  • This song ties in closely with the concept that runs throughout Into the Wild Life. Guitarist Joe Hottinger explained to TeamRock: "Sick Individual, again, is about doing whatever the f--k you want. That's the main theme of this record, and also one of the main ones of how we live our life."
  • Halestorm's producer Jay Joyce wanted to capture the energy of the band's live shows on Into the Wild Life. Hottinger recalled: "He (Joyce) wanted you to hear Arejay (Hale, drums) the way you see him when we play live. And he knew exactly where and how to f--k up a song in the right way. He'd say to Arejay, 'Why don't you just go crazy for a second.' And that's what you hear in the drum intro. Then he'd say, 'You guys just write a riff; something big and heavy.' And that's the Sabbath-y riff that you hear."
