Songfacts®:

  • Halsey suffers from the gynaecological condition endometriosis, which causes pelvic pain that is often disabling. It can also cause fertility issues, and the singer has endured several miscarriages, one of which occurred during her August 2015 Vevo LIFT performance. Halsey wrote "More" after an appointment with her obstetrician-gynecologist.
  • For a long time, Halsey thought because of her health problems, she wouldn't conceive children. At that appointment the doctor told her that with some lifestyle changes, she would be able to. Having felt low for ages, this news lifted her spirits. Halsey wanted to celebrate in song that she can now be a mother.

And when you decide it's your time to arrive
I've loved you for all of my life

Throughout the song, Halsey addresses her yet-to-be-born child that she thought she'd never meet. All the trials and tribulations she has endured have made her want the child "more."
  • Norwegian producer Lido, who has worked on both of Halsey's previous albums, contributes to this song. Halsey told Apple Music they built the fading instrumental at the end "to sound like a sonogram, like you were hearing the sounds from inside a womb."
