Songfacts®:

  • "Grapejuice" is a rather sad song where Harry Styles changes his mind about buying his love interest some flowers in favor of a bottle of wine. The One Direction singer sits in his garden, despondently drinking his 1982 red vino. He reflects on how his alcohol dependency takes priority over the relationship with his sweetheart.
  • The song continues Styles' apparent obsession with fruit. He has already given us tracks about kiwi, cherry and watermelon.
  • Styles wrote the song alongside its producers, Tyler Johnson and Thomas "Kid Harpoon" Hull. Johnson and Hull played most of the instruments (horn, keyboards, piano, electric guitar, drum machine). The only exceptions are the bass and guitar played by Rob Harris from Jamiroquai and the whistling by Styles.
