Songfacts®:

  • A leftover from sessions for Harry Styles' debut self-titled album, "Medicine" was not heard by the general public until the first show of this second world tour in Basel, Switzerland on March 11, 2018.
  • The song finds Styles taking a sensual approach to love.

Here to take my medicine, take my medicine
    Rest it on your fingertips
Up to your mouth, feeling it out

There is a wide debate as to the meaning of the song. One of the lyrics ("The boys and the girls are in, I'll mess around with them, and I'm OK with it") has been interpreted by some as Styles addressing his rumored bisexuality.
  • Though "Medicine" hasn't made it onto a record, Styles often plays it live and it has become a fan favorite. Howard Stern noted during a May 18, 2022 interview that the song is an anthem for fans who are thinking about coming out. "It's definitely about feeling like there's a space where people feel safe enough to kind of share, have those big moments and share them with a room full of people," agreed Styles.
