Songfacts®:

  • According to her 1981 autobiography Hazel O'Connor - Uncovered Plus, "Ee-I-Adio" was her first release and was recorded during her first ever session. Written seven months previously, it was inspired by her parents arguing when she was young. Hazel O'Connor grew up in Coventry and while still a teenager embarked on an epic journey which led to her dancing in Tokyo, being raped in North Africa, and bombed by the Israeli airforce before finding fame with writing the soundtrack for and starring in Breaking Glass. Her parents separated, and she didn't see much of her father during her teens, but when he died she sang "Go West" - a song written by her brother - at his funeral.
Ee-I-Adio" was released on the Albion label in 1979 backed by "Time Is Free". >>>
