Songfacts®:

  • Heaven & Hell are basically Black Sabbath fronted by Ronnie James Dio rather than Ozzy Osbourne. The lineup was Dio, Tony Iommi (guitar), Geezer Butler (bass), and Vinny Appice (drums). As far as their fans are concerned, The Devil You Know represented the first new Sabbath album since 1995's Forbidden.

The name change was because when they toured, they didn't play older Sabbath material.
  • Dio explained this song to Rolling Stone: "That one is about the government. It's a way of saying politicians are screwing us, so we're going to eat them."

  • Matt from Houston, TxI would hardly say heaven and hell are just black sabbath with dio. Obviously the dude who writes these "songfacts" for bands he doesn't know about has nothing more than time to kill
