Songfacts®:

  • The title track of the 1985 Heavy Pettin' album Rock Ain't Dead was written by band members Gary Moat, Gordon Bonnar and Steve Hayman. In an interview 32 years on, by which time he had traded in his drum kit for a guitar, Gary Moat said it spoke for itself. "It was a kick in the butt to the rock haters back in the day and still as relevant today as then. I thought I would have been dead and gone by now but hey 30 years on a new album/band and Rock Ain't Dead!"

The reference to the new album was Swallow by his latest project, Burnt Out Wreck - something he clearly was not even in 2017! >>>
