Songfacts®:

  • This song is a tribute to the Rock 'n' Roll singer Eddie Cochran.
  • Future Deep Purple and Rainbow founder Ritchie Blackmore backed Heinz on guitar on this track.
  • German Heinz Burt was the bass player with the Tornadoes, ("Telstar") until he went solo in 1963. The producer Joe Meek launched him as "the biggest name in the Pop world," but Heinz failed to live up to the hype: this was his only UK Top 20 hit and he failed to break through in the US. In 1967 Meek killed himself with Heinz's shotgun, simultaneously finishing both careers. Heinz died from motor neurone disease in April 2000.
