  • The lead single from Hillsong United's Empires album, "Touch the Sky" describes the reward of turning your life over to God. "I just love this song because it's basically a song of surrender and I think for me personally, my favorite line in the song is 'I touch the sky when my knees hit the ground,'" vocalist Taya Smith remarked. "I really relate to that."
  • The Hillsong team knew the album title before they knew really what is was going be about. Co-leader Joel Houston explained: "All I knew was that I felt like we had to, as a foundation, start with attitudes."

    "I love the idea that Jesus and his disciples climbed up a mountain and Jesus decided to start talking about the Kingdom of Heaven," he added. "We live in a culture now, much like back then, where status was based on who you were and what you looked like and who you knew or what labels were attached to you, much in the same way as back then."
