Lewis explained that it wasn't written about anyone in particular, but was a composite based on people they came across in their early years when they often played a bar called Uncle Charlie's in Marin County, California.
  • Huey Lewis wrote this with the group's bass player, Mario Cipollina. It's one of four songs on the Sports album that was not released as a single.

  • Frank Schnyder from Los Angeles"You Crack Me Up" and "Honky Tonk Blues" were the only songs from the Sports album never to be performed live until 2013 when they did the entire album on their tour for the 30th anniversary of the album.
    They also recorded excellent new live-in-studio versions of the songs for the 30th anniversary release!
