Songfacts®:

  • I Blame Coco is the musical alter ego of Coco Sumner, who is the daughter of British musician Sting. This song about alienation is her second single. The young singer-songwriter told The Independent April 30, 2010 that she relates to the loneliness of the robot in the song. Said Coco: "This little robot can't empathize with anything but himself, so he feels really sorry for himself. Then everyone leaves him because he is selfish, but he can't help it, because he is just a robot and programmed that way."
  • Sumner told The Evening Standard that the song is not about her own feelings of alienation so much as those of the Disney character Wall-E. "Man, I loved that film," she said.
