Songfacts®:

  • Iggy Azalea ponders on this intimate and personal number over some of the issues she's battled over since the release of her debut album in 2014. These include changing labels and album titles.

I've been sending up prayers I need feedback
Past full of sin can someone delete that
My path got muddy, I feel like my feet trapped
Can you give me the strength now to beat that?

Iggy stated why she chose to release this vulnerable number in a vlog, "I've never really been this honest about the things I struggle with," she said. "I always try to be really tough for everybody – especially women."
  • Migos rapper Quavo comes through on the hook to reiterate Iggy's rhymes about saving oneself.

I've been looking for a savior
I've been looking for a real one to hold on to
I've been looking for a savior, savior, yeah, to save me

"It is not a record about you needing a man or a woman to come and save you in a relationship," Iggy explained. "It's about you being your own savior and finding your own strength within yourself to figure it the f--k out. It's a really hard record for me to have written and I think it's going to be one I really struggle to perform, too, just 'cause I'll probably wanna cry every single time."
  • Iggy interpolates English singer Lisa Stansfield's 1989 hit "All Around The World," when she croons "Been around the world and I, I, I, I can't find my baby."
  • The synthy down-tempo house beat is courtesy of Cirkut (Katy Perry's "Roar," Miley Cyrus' "Wrecking Ball") and Manhun Glow. Both are members of Dr. Luke's production team.
  • The song was used as the theme music to technology company Monster's "You Deserve Better" commercial, which aired during the Super Bowl in 2018. The ad, which stars Iggy, spotlights the real-life story of Monster founder Noel Lee and his journey of bringing revolutionary audio to the masses.
  • Iggy Azalea explained to iHeartRadio that she wrote the song during a heavy period in her life. "I'd had a big breakup, and my career wasn't going well," she said. "And I sort of found myself in this space where everything that I was used to, just my day-to-day routine, had abruptly stopped. "

Iggy added: "And I just didn't know how to get my life back together, or what my life looked like with all of these changes, and how to get a routine going again, and just how to get my happiness back and feeling normal. So that was the space that I was in when I wrote this song."
