Songfacts®:

  • This electro hip-hop track finds Iggy Azalea discussing her independence and self-confidence. Motivated by a period where the Australian found herself having to deal with a bandwagon of haters, she raps about looking out for yourself and being your own biggest cheerleader.
  • Azalea penned the tune with the songwriting pair of Lauren Christy and Bebe Rexha (G-Eazy's "Me, Myself & I"). The cut was produced by Los Angeles-based collective D.R.U.G.S., who also handled Azalea's 2011 breakthrough mixtape Ignorant Art.
  • Azalea borrows her flow on the bridge from Juvenile's 1999 hit "Back That Thang Up." Iggy's rhymes are different, but she interpolates the melody from Juvenile's opening bars.
  • The song has no feature on it, unlike many of Azalea's other hits such as "Fancy" and "Black Widow." Instead she performs the hook herself, where she declares: "Baby I got me. Only friend I need." Iggy told Canadian entertainment news show eTalk: "My first single has no feature on it which was my number one goal, to try to achieve a song which was strong without needing somebody else to sing it."
