Songfacts®:

  • "Just One Kiss" is a bluesy rock number about lustful love.

    Hold your head high
    Look at my lunar eclipse
    Send me to Heaven, baby
    With your lips, yeah

The steamy song is about that instant when you decide to give in and follow your heart. "That moment you know it can go either way," explained Imelda May. "The sharp notion if you succumb you might just lose control. The split second decision you know might change everything, with just one kiss. Could you resist?"
  • The rollicking tune is a duet between Imelda May and her friend Noel Gallagher. She explained to The Daily Star newspaper's Wired column she "knew his raspy voice would work. It needed a sexy voice to add to the sexy vibe on that song." Gallagher agreed to join her on the song after an idle texting exchange between the pair.
  • "Just One Kiss" also features another of May's pals, Ronnie Wood. The pair first met in the early '90s when the 16-year-old May and the Rolling Stones guitar legend shared a stage in a Dublin blues basement club. They have worked together several times since, including their Evening of Celtic Soul concert in May 2019 at the London Palladium.
  • May wrote the song with Tim Bran of the British electronic music group Dreadzone, and with the string arranger Davide Rossi (Coldplay, U2, Goldfrapp).
  • "Just One Kiss" is the lead single from May's 11 Past the Hour album. The song's theme of romantic and carnal desire ties in with the record's theme of love in all its different forms.
