Album: Great American Composers (1912)

Songfacts®:

  • Co-written by Irving Berlin, E. Ray Goetz and A. Baldwin Sloane, this parody of Berlin's own composition "Alexander's Ragtime Band" was produced about six months after the original. A recording on 10 inch disk was made by Billy Murray on February 12, 1912 and released in April. Murray also recorded the original song. Berlin wrote many songs in the same style, obviously hoping to hit another jackpot, but none of them was as big as the original. >>>
