Songfacts®:

  • J Cole starts out this track by a line from the Notorious B.I.G.'s "Notorious Thug." "Armed and dangerous, call the cops" he spits mimicking Biggie's cadence on his 1997 cut. It is the first of several Biggie references on this song.
  • Cole goes on to makes it clear that success has earned him some bragging rights including some fancy wristwear. "Thirty grand and that's just for the wristwatch. Hate to brag but backpacking, that's hip hop," he spits. The rapper previously boasted of his love for expensive timepieces on the Cole World: The Sideline Story cut, "Mr. Nice Watch."
