  • Michael Dolan from Yukon OklahomaWhat month in 2001 did Jack Johnson record Flack.
  • Jaelane from Pangburn Arkansas This song was written for me.... in my heart of hearts I know. A soul shifter at his finest. Jack and Bob Seager share so much in common I they are the same soul.....
  • Emily from Ocean Springs, MsI always thought it was a guy (or girl, whoever really) that is trying to pursue a relationship with someone who never shows up when they say they will and won't make a commitment.
  • Lolo Brown from Gertrude, Bahamasommmmfggg this si MY FAVORITE SONG EVER! this si my interpretation of it after listening to it for years: ok so its about a guy who is interested in this girl but shes not over an ex and this has happend to him before and hes just reaching that point where hes like ok, im done. "so dont tell me, you might just let it go, no one likes to be let down" oh my gawwwd i love this song so much
  • Andrea from Sønderborg, DenmarkHave you heard "Jungle Gym" from the Sing-alongs and Lullabies-album? It reminds me of "Don't pass me by" too. You know, where he sings "Shalalalalalala". Love all three of them anyway.
  • Karo from Melbourne, AustraliaI personally believe that it is a mixed of all u guys's opinions. I reckon hes saying he flaked out and gona make it up. But because he flaked out, 'maybe' hell flake out on making it up? the chorus 'it seems to me that maybe,
It pretty much always means no' means that he probably wont cause 'maybe' normally means no. i reckon the poor man is beating himself up a bit. Hes a great guy though. well hes music is awesome.
  • James from Saint Clair Shores, MiA flake is a person who consistantly will tell you they will do something for you, or go with you somewhere and then not show up. Commonly known as 'flaking out.' In the first couple lines he says "I know she says its alright, you can make it up next time." I think meaning he flaked out and hes going to make it up but never can because hes a flake? Reading the lyrics, looks like its a about a relationship that he will not get into because he doesn't want something to happen? Anyone care to elaborate, correct or add?
  • Stef from Chicago, IlA flake is a person who is an airhead or someone who doesn't really know anything or is out of the loop. I think in his lyrics "I know she said it's alright"- to the part where he sings, "It seems to me that maybe, just pretty much always means no, so don't tell me you might just let it go" if the reference to the flake. He's describing a girl who doesn't really make up her mind and is sort of just there floating around. Like a space cadet.
  • Julie Michelle from St. Louis, Moo and i dono what a jist is? so that would probably help if i did i guess? woah i sound like a huge dumba$$ with these comments on this song lol....
w.e. im still hott hahah well ya this song rocks!
  • Alex from Worcester, Mawhats flake about...? i mean i get the jist, but does anybody have any detailed ideas?
