We're Gonna Make It Together

Album: released as a single (1970)

Songfacts®:

  • Newspapers don't always get it right. The December 25, 1970 issue of the Beckenham Journal And Kentish Times was presumably not actually published on Christmas Day, but it reported on page 11 that Tony Hatch had written a song for his forthcoming Australian tour with his wife Jackie Trent. At that time, they were living in the Borough of Bromley, and the song was said to be "Happy Medium" which was released that month, and was to be released as "We Are Going To Make It Together" Downunder. Miss Trent's brother Les Burgess was said to have sung on the record. In reality, the song was called "We're Gonna Make It Together", was co-written by the husband and wife team, and Happy Medium was the name of the ad hoc recording outfit, apparently a one-off. Produced by Hatch, it was released in the UK November 27, 1970 on the Columbia label backed by another Hatch/Trent composition, "I Can Hear Love." >>
