Songfacts®:

  • This is the first single released by Jake Miller following his record deal with Warner Bros. Records. He wrote the tune in Los Angeles at the beginning of January 2014. "It's a very special song," he explained to MTV News. "As an artist, I'm always on the road, always on tour and there's people back home…I've had a girlfriend for a long time, my friends and my family. Whenever I'm gone for months at a time, I miss them, so texting and phone calls aren't enough and that's kind of why I wrote this song I wish that tonight I could get on the red-eye back home, first flight home and see the ones that I love."
  • The song's music video was shot in Los Angeles and features the story of several airline passengers, including Jake, eager to get home. The clip was shot in the same plane that was used in the Bridesmaids movie. "I actually wrote the song with the music video in mind," Jake told Artist Direct. "When we shot the video, I knew exactly how I wanted it. That made it easier to write. When you get into that mindset, the lyrics write themselves. Watching all of the actors do what I thought they would was incredible. I'm really proud of the music video as well as the song."
