Songfacts®:

  • During this emotional love song, James Arthur sings of his struggles with anxiety and depression. He compares the way his mental issues gather momentum until his world collapses down to an avalanche. Fortunately, he has his lover by his side and she gives him the strength to endure.
  • It is likely Arthur is singing of the support his girlfriend Jessica Grist has given him throughout his dark times. The pair first started dating in 2012, and though they ended their relationship in spring 2021, the singer has said she has inspired much of his It'll All Make Sense In The End album. The record's lead single, "Medicine," for instance, is about the restorative powers of Jessica's love after he had an emergency operation to remove his gallbladder.
  • Arthur wrote the song alongside:

London-based singer-songwriter Andrew Jackson. He also co-penned Arthur's "Train Wreck" and "Treehouse" singles.

The track's producer Mark "Duck" Blackwell. The Jamaican-born songwriter also has credits on music from Louis Tomlinson ("Two of Us ") and Kylie Minogue ("Say Something"). This is the first time Blackwell has been co-credited on an Arthur track.
