Songfacts®:

  • The first single from James Bay's debut studio album, Chaos and the Calm, "Let It Go" was released on June 2, 2014. A slow-burner, it peaked at #62 on the UK charts nearly four months later on September 27th.
  • Bay explained the album title to The Sun: "Chaos and The Calm signifies the madness that is every day," he said. "From moving out for the first time, through relationships and how it feels to travel and leave the people that mean the most."
  • The song was re-released in March 2015 and this time became James Bay's second UK Top 10 hit, following "Hold Back The River."
