Songfacts®:

  • This heartbreaking paean to unrequited love features rhymes by RZA about a woman who plans on marrying another man. The Wu-Tang Clan legend peppers his lyrics with anglophile references to fish and chips and drinking stout. Blake told Pigeons and Planes: "The RZA appearance was really a chosen collaboration, because I really heard him on the beat when I made it. He just seemed like the only person that would have sounded good on it."
  • James Blake told Mojo magazine regarding RZA's contribution: "I had this track called 'Take a Fall For Me' and I'd obviously been somehow filtering my influence of the Wu-Tang into this thing. If it wasn't going to be him on it, it wasn't going to be anybody, so we sent the email off, a real stab in the dark, to see if he'd come back with something and he did."
  • Regarding RZA's lyrics, Blake told Mojo: "My first thought was it feels like I'm in a romantic novel and RZA's narrating it, and he's talking about me ordering a cold stout. I don't think that's what he was doing, obviously! I like the way he does it, at first you're like, 'What the hell?' And then you're like, 'Oh, its really endearing, it fits.'"
