Songfacts®:

  • English crossover jazz singer-songwriter Jamie Cullum discussed this song: "Now this one is a love song with a joke in it. It's about how indecisive men can be, about that moment when you just can't work out your feelings. It was recorded on an upright piano with the practice pedal down so to start with it sounds really muffled. For half the track it seems like the cheapest thing you've ever heard but then the orchestra comes in. It's written in a really old-fashioned Cole Porter style but with lyrics that make it seriously contemporary."
