Songfacts®:

  • This DJ Mustard produced track sing-rapping and crooning about late night partying. The pumped up banger is Foxx's first new release since 2011's "Best Night Of My Life."
  • Foxx interpolates aspects from Queen Pen's song of the same title on the hook. The female rapper's single reached #74 on the Hot 100 in 1997.
  • The song features a couple of guest verses from 2 Chainz. The Georgia trap king tells us a party ain't a party 'til you see him there.
  • A lawsuit was filed by Nontra Records against the songwriters less than a week after its release. According to the complaint, DH Mustard's instrumental was sent by the producer to Poe Boy Music Group to serve as underlying material for a J Rand cut of the same title. Nontra Records then bought out J Rand's contract from Poe Boys, acquiring all rights including his allegedly original version of "Party Ain't a Party."

The plaintiff added that it believes many of the lyrics in J Rand and Foxx's versions are "identical" to each other.
