Songfacts®:

  • This ballad from Jamie Lawson's self-titled album is about how both people in a relationship bring their own baggage but can work together to make the burden lighter. Lawson elaborated on the song's meaning in a track-by-track commentary: "'In Our Own Worlds' is a song about history in the sense of when you meet someone for the first time, generally you come with all the things you have been through before and so does that person. And you may have gone through a whole load of bad stuff, and the other person may have gone through a whole load of bad stuff - or good stuff as well, I guess - but it's kind of saying that we're all a bit broken, but we're perfect. That's the idea behind it. A song about people fitting together regardless of what they've been through, I think. I might be wrong, but that's what I think."
