Songfacts®:

  • This sun-kissed Californian mid tempo song is the lead single from British jazz funk and acid jazz band Jamiroquai's seventh album titled Rock Dust Light Star.
  • Rock Dust Light Star was recorded mainly at frontman Jay Kay's home studio in Buckinghamshire, and also at Hook End Manor in Oxfordshire. The album was entirely written by Kay and his Jamiroquai bandmates and produced by the singer alongside first time collaborators Charlie Russell and Brad Spence.
  • Kay explained in press materials that for Rock Dust Light Star Jamiroquai have moved on from the musical style they helped popularize and reverted to a more organic, live sound. Said the singer: "Everything on the record is live. It's a real band record. The last, album – fantastic – but the whole thing became a little sterile. This time we've captured the flow of our live performances."
