  • Jana Kramer married football tight end Mike Caussin in 2015 and the couple welcomed their first child, daughter Jolie Rae, the following year. However, their marriage hit the buffers after Caussin confessed to cheating on his wife.
  • The inspiration for this song came from the singer's heartbreak at the time.

Surrounded by pieces of vows that were broken
    Leavin' me speechless
    It's like I don't know you
Everything we built is falling down

Kramer recalled to People being in the studio and attempting to explain in a song how
"In that moment where I found out about everything, I felt like the whole world was just spinning - like everything was just flipped upside down and it was this awful nightmare."

The singer added that she didn't want to believe that Caussin's cheating was true so instead she wished her husband had told her "some beautiful lies to cover up what was going on."
  • Caussin sought treatment at a rehabilitation facility and the couple later reconciled. They renewed their wedding vows in December 2017.

The reconciliation didn't last. On April 20, 2021, Kramer filed for divorce from Caussin, citing "inappropriate marital conduct, irreconcilable differences and adultery." The divorce was finalized three months later.
