Songfacts®:

  • Jana Kramer wrote this song with songwriters Phil Barton, Lindsay Rimes and Emily Shackleton when out on the road. She explained to I Heart Radio: "'Dance in the Rain' was a song I wrote about going through a really tough situation, but weathering through it. Like weathering through the storm, just being in the rain, and just being like, 'You know what? This is hard, but I'm going to just dance in the rain and get through this.'"
  • Asked by Billboard magazine if she's ever afraid to reveal too much in a song,? Kramer replied: "People know the stories and I wanted to give them a closer look behind the walls. 'Dance In the Rain' is one of my favorites because I love being vulnerable on a song and breaking the layers and telling the truth. At the end of the day, the truth ends up winning and shows the authenticity in the song."
