Songfacts®:

  • Written by Josh Osborne, Nicolle Galyon and Shane McAnally, this song compares love to alcohol and drugs in the way it brings people down to their knees.

Wrecked my life, had too much of things I swore I'd never touch
So don't tell me I've never done the hard stuff
    Cause I've done love
    I've done love
  • Love has not run kindly for Jana Kramer. The singer's first ex-husband, Michael Gambino, was physically and emotionally abusive to her. Several years after her marriage to Gambino, Kramer wed actor Johnathon Schaech but separated after just a month. Following a broken engagement with Brantley Gilbert, the songstress tied the knot with Washington Redskins tight end Mike Caussin in 2015, but again the marriage again hit the buffers. However, after a tumultuous year, Kramer and her husband renewed their wedding vows in December 2017.

Kramer told CMT the track came together after a lunch with Nicolle Galyon. "I told her my story and touched on relationships and my journey, and she told me hers," she explained. "And the next day, she said, 'I have this song.'"

"This is the song. This is so me," Kramer said after hearing the tune.
  • Nicolle Galyon recalled to CMT that after having lunch with Kramer, she instantly thought of her when McAnally brought the song up during a writing session. "After knowing Jana's story," she said, "it felt like it was just sitting there waiting for her."
