Songfacts®:

  • This bump-and-grind cut finds Janelle Monae collaborating with Jidenna, who was signed by the singer to her Wondaland Records label. The song was released as the second single from Wondaland Presents: The Eephus an EP by the artists signed to Wondaland Records. The disc's lead single was Jidenna's breakthrough tune "Classic Man."
  • Jidenna is a founding member of Fear & Fancy, a Californian group of activists, artists, engineers, and scientists who host soirees, dinner parties, and demonstrations with the intention of making their part of the world a better place to live. Jidenna told Spin that around 2007 it was he who brought Janelle Monaé to California with Fear and Fancy, a fact that discredits the commonly held impression that he's her protegé. "We built a masquerade ball that eventually attracted Wondaland, and we flew Janelle for her first show outside of Georgia," he said. "She was who she was, and I was who I was, and we both had our crews. If anything, I think our crews found each other."
