Album: The Great Escape Artist (2011)
Play Video

Songfacts®:

  • This drum-heavy third single from Jane's Addiction's fourth album, The Great Escape Artist, finds them paying homage to their independent roots as part of the LA club scene in the mid 1980s.
  • The seedy Robert Hales directed video was shot at the club Fais Do-Do, in the mid Los Angeles area. The visual shows the band performing while various card sharks and prostitutes lurk in the background. The guy in a white fedora is based on the similarly attired man burning a Dear John letter on the cover of Led Zeppelin's In Through The Out Door. Hales told Spinner he set out to create, "a video that really immerses itself in what the band is all about–that off-kilter vibe, kinky imagery, and 'lust for life' spirit that's embedded in their music."
