Songfacts®:

  • Here, Jason Derulo and Adam Levine try to hook up with a lady who has an expensive lifestyle. She has high-class tastes – her life comprises diamonds and dollar bills - but the "Savage Love" singer and Maroon 5 frontman think they can bring something extra.
  • Speaking with Radio.com's, Julia, Jason Derulo said he wanted to highlight in the song "how I appreciated the fact that this girl was independent, and she created a whole lifestyle for herself but saying 'just because you created this amazing lifestyle, which I appreciate, doesn't mean I can't add value to your life."
  • Jason Derulo and Adam Levine wrote the song with Natalie Anne Salomon, Pablo Bowman, Jacob Kasher, Casey Smith and Amy Allen. It was produced by the Rice N' Peas duo of Kevin White and Michael Woods. They also helmed Bazzi's Cosmic album, including the hit singles "Mine" and "Beautiful."
  • Derulo originally wrote the song in mid-2020 with Jacob Kasher. Once they'd penned the bare bones of "Lifestyle" they quickly saw its potential.

"It was one of those sessions that just felt good afterwards," Derulo told American Songwriter. "The true test is when you hear it the next day, and it passes the overnight run. Then, I started thinking of collaborations, and I couldn't think of anyone who would do it better than Adam Levine."
  • French producer David Guetta created a dance remix of the song, which he named "Lifestyle Slap House Mix." Derulo released the revamped version on February 18, 2021.
  • Maroon 5 included the song on the deluxe version of their 2021 album Jordi.
