  • DeRulo wrote this song with his romantic partner Jordin Sparks. The American Idol alumni also features on the track. Speaking with Radio.com, DeRulo said it took a while for him and Sparks to merge their work styles. "It was a lot of fun actually," he said. "In the beginning when we started to work together it wasn't as fun, it wasn't as easy. We had to try to find each other's palette and we finally found it. 'Vertigo' is one of the products of the happier studio sessions. It's very stripped down and piano based so you can hear every emotion. You can almost see the story in your head."
  • Derulo (from OK magazine): "With Vertigo, Jordin and I recorded about six songs because I wanted to make sure I had the right song for the album. When I wrote Vertigo I knew it was it. It's just us and the piano so the emotion really comes to life."
