Songfacts®:

  • Jason Mraz's Know album was inspired by some little love notes that the singer wrote to his wife Christina Carano, whom he married in 2015. He explained to ET:

"My last album was called 'Yes!', I couldn't pass up the opportunity to call this album 'No.' But we're looking at the brighter side of things, so it's 'Know,' k-n-o-w as in knowledge is power. And this is really an album of love letters. Love letters that I wrote mostly to my wife, but also to myself to constantly remind myself that love is still the answer."

Mraz added on Instagram that he wrote this country-funk jam "to make my favorite someone smile."
  • The song's music video includes footage from the couple's actual wedding at the Pole Green Historic Church in Mechanicsville, Virginia, where Mraz grew up. It also includes shots of the reception. "I just asked her permission. I said, 'Babe, this is so cute. Can I try [using it], are you okay with it?'" Mraz explained. "And she's a real star in that video. But I didn't know when we were shooting the wedding that it would ever be seen by more than our friends and family."
  • Music videos that include shots of the artists' real-life weddings were quite the craze in 2018. Other clips that document real life nuptials included the ones for Scotty McCreery's "This Is It" and Dan + Shay's "Speechless."
