Songfacts®:

  • After Jax Jones married his wife in Thailand in 2017 the pair was delighted when she fell pregnant. Tragically, she miscarried; during this sad banger Jones discusses their experience of losing their baby. He released the song as the second single from his Deep Joy EP.
  • Despite the personal stuff in the lyrics, the song has an anthemic vibe with a stuttering beat. According to Jones this is because the song is also about the joy of the dance floor. He explained: "I believe dancing is the perfect antidote to sadness, so that's why the drop on this song is so crazy. I wanted to make the sickest switch up in a song to help you snap out of the sad times and go crazy on the dance floor. That's what deep joy is all about."
  • Happily, Jones announced on his Instagram on September 18, 2020 that his wife had given birth to their daughter, Lawana. Their baby girl's name means "beautiful" in Thai.
  • Jem Cooke is the vocalist. The UK singer-songwriter has also written and sung in collaboration with the likes of Camelphat ("Breathe"), Zero 7 ("Swimmers"), and Wilkinson ("Run").
