Songfacts®:

  • On the night of the 58th Annual Grammy Awards in 2016, Jay Rock nearly lost his life as a result of a horrible motorcycle crash. The Watts, California rapper had surgery for a shattered pelvis and broken leg. The TDE artist recalls the nearly fatal incident during this track.

I think 'bout if my motorcycle crash was fatal
Broken bones, internal bleedin', stretched on the table
Goin' through surgery, two machines helpin' me breathe

Jay has since thought a lot about what would have happened if he hadn't made it through his gruesome accident.
  • Rock raps on the first verse: "Instagram's a dead man's best friend." Billboard asked the rapper what he meant by the lyrics. He replied:

"You tend to see things on Instagram or the internet, when people are gone, that's when they get the most love. Show me love while I'm still here. Don't wait until somebody's dead and gone to show them love."
  • The song features Jay Rock's TDE label-mates Kendrick Lamar and SZA, though only the latter is credited.
