Songfacts®:

  • This House banger is the second single and title track from R&B singer Jay Sean's compilation album Hit The Lights. The song finds Sean begging the listener to hit the dance floor. "Come out in the dark, and let the DJ lead the way," he sings. "'Cause it's hot in the club now, so don't let it stop now, so hit the lights."
  • The song was produced by Orange Factory Music who comprise producers J Remy and BobbyBass. The duo have consistently charted on the Billboard Dance Club Play charts and crafted much of Sean's All or Nothing album, including the hits "Down" and "Do You Remember."
  • Sean's Cash Money Records label mate Lil Wayne contributes a guest rap. Weezy previously contributed a verse to the British artist's US breakthrough single, "Down."
  • Sean told MTV News that he sees this as a club banger: "I'm so excited about this song, 'cause, for me, it's the first time I felt like I did a huge club record," he said. "I always wanted to write a song that could be batted across all the clubs and on radio. And I think this is that song. It doesn't need any remixes or anything like that."
  • Sean explained to US Indian News why he recorded this club banger: "I've never really had a massive club song, so I wanted a song that I could smash into clubs worldwide. That's what the lyrics are about: having a good time. Musically it's progressive for me. It incorporates more of the current music climate. I think you have to move with the times. Michael Jackson and Madonna moved with the times. Music is changing. I wanted to incorporate all the sounds — so we've got dance, we've got pop, we've got R&B, hip-hop all in one song."
  • The Billie Woodruff-directed video not only features Lil Wayne, but also Birdman and DJ Khaled also make guest appearances.
