He recalled to Billboard that he'd returned drunk to his apartment after his gig when Jay Sean's song came on. "The rattles on my head from the sound system at my gig made the perfect combination to make the track," he said. "The moment I arrived home, I started to make the basic idea of 'Ride It.'"
• DJ Regard's version of "Ride It" started going viral in part because of its popularity on TikTok. Users started uploading clips onto the video app with Regard's remix, and by the end of the summer over two million videos had been uploaded.
