Songfacts®:

  • Seattle-born-and-raised singer-songwriter Jaymes Young (birth name Jaymes McFarland), crafts R&B-flavored pop songs sprinkled with an electro feel. When the 14-year-old Jaymes picked up his mom's classical, nylon-string guitar, he was quickly hooked. From that moment, Young wanted to become a musician, and after relocating to Los Angeles, he signed a recording contract with Atlantic Records. "Infinity" is a track from his debut album, Feel Something.
  • This is a romantic love song where Young proclaims his total devotion to his lover. He tells her she is his "paradise," his soul aches for hers, and he feels blessed that fate chose her to be his partner. Ultimately, he hopes their love lasts forever – for "infinity."
  • Young co-wrote "Infinity" with Canadian producer Billboard (Mathieu Jomphe-Lépine). His other credits include Kesha's "Cannibal," Robyn's "Call Your Girlfriend," and Britney Spears' "Hold It Against Me."
  • Young plays all the instruments - drums, guitar, keyboards – and also mixed the track. Mastering engineer Michelle Mancini is the only other person credited.
  • Though Billboard helped Young produce "Infinity," the singer recorded many other Feel Something tracks totally on his own at home. As a result, it took him several years to make the album. "I wanted to see, like, 'Can I do it?'" he told Entertainment Weekly of his insular process. "The hardest part was expecting a lot out of myself. Like, I'm not going to cut myself any slack. I spent a lot of the last few years trying to figure out how to translate my writing into an album, production-wise."
  • In 2021, the song started charting worldwide after it went viral on TikTok.
