• Jennifer Nettles trades lines with Jennifer Lopez on this Playing With Fire track. The song talks about how "Jenny from the dirt" and "Jenny from the block" aren't that different even though they live on different sides of town and have different experiences. "We hang on the porch," sings Nettles. "We hang on the stoop," Lopez adds. The pair declare on the chorus that both are working mothers, with the "same dirty laundry, same dirty dishes."
• The collaboration was birthed when Big Machine Label Group president Scott Borchetta asked Nettles who she'd love to work with and before long the Sugarland star found herself knocking on J-Lo's American Idol trailer door. "I just pitched her this idea for a song about unity and about how we're more alike than we are different," Nettles explained. "At the end of the day the things that keep us up in the middle of the night with worry, or that we dream for our kids or make us laugh … those are all the same."
• Jennifer Nettles told Billboard magazine the underlying theme of the track is how much people are alike regardless of their diverse backgrounds. "I think what the song celebrates are the ways that we are more alike than we are different. At the end of the day, the things that happen in our house and keep us up at night - the things we dream of for our children are the same," she explained. "We get to see that in music across the board, not just in terms of our daily lives. When art imitates life, if we are more alike than we are different, we will see those similarities celebrated within the art, as well."
