  • Jennifer Nettles wrote this song with producer Bill Sherman, who is best known for his work on Broadway shows such as Hamilton.

Nettles' lyrics find her reflecting on the unique challenges of being a working mother and how that history is relatively new. "I think as women we have a very limited, maybe 50 years if I'm being generous, of asking ourselves what we really want and what we really need," she told Taste of Country. "We have a much longer history of self-sacrifice and self-denial in order to survive. So it's really only since women have been able to get out and work and make a living for themselves that they've been able to ask themselves 'What does it mean to be me in order to thrive, and not just survive?'"
