  • I got a new love that lasts forever
She's got what it takes to keep me high

On June 4, 2019, Margo Price gave birth to her and Jeremy Ivey's third child, a girl. Ivey started writing this loved-up song inspired by their baby daughter for his Invisible Pictures album.
  • Ivey only got as far as the first verse and chorus when he was writing the song, but fortunately he's married to a songwriter. "I couldn't think of a second verse, so Margo says, 'Gimme a crack at that,'" he told Uncut magazine. "She wrote a few lines about someone named Becky who goes down to Florida with her undercover lawyer. Sometimes a song ends up not being about anything, really. Maybe there's one line in there that's the whole reason you wrote it. But it has to be interesting."
  • Ivey co-produced "Keep Me High" with Andrija Tokic, who also helped Alabama Shakes produce their Boys & Girls album. Ivey played electric guitar and synthesizer on the track and Tokic the guzheng (a Chinese plucked zither) and rototoms (drums with no shell that are tuned by rotating).

    The other musicians are:

    Derrek Phillips: percussion
    John Pahmer: organ
    Billy Contreras: strings
    Jack Lawrence: bass
  • We couldn't find any other examples on our database of songs with rototoms, but on The Korgis 1980 hit "Everybody's Got To Learn Sometime," their singer James Warren plays the guzheng.
