Songfacts®:

  • Jewel debuted this touching song at the 62nd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards in 2010. The country singer paid a musical tribute to several Hollywood greats who had passed away in the previous 12 months with this tune. "I wrote it for a friend of mine that passed away from cancer, and they're letting me sing it solo acoustic," she divulged on the red carpet prior to the show.

The song wasn't released until five years later when Jewel included it on her album Picking Up the Pieces.
  • Jewel co-wrote the song with David Lee and Dallas Davidson. The song shows a different side to Davidson, who's best-known for such bro-country hits as "Country Girl (Shake It For Me)" and "That's My Kind of Night."

"I don't think it would be a typical song that Dallas would write," Jewel laughingly acknowledged during an album preview.
